Party Politics

I never imagined I would be involved in politics. I mean, I thought, "Cool, I can just plan a hot party for 1,700 people and move on with my life." Oh no.

...but this is great. I never knew politics could be so much fun. ...and lucrative.

I had to look up "politics" to make sure I was using it right. I was. The first definition according to wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn is "social relations involving authority or power" and in this arena, this is fucking fierce.

I have already had a few instances where I had to remind myself, it's not what you personally think, you get paid well to play this game and do it well. I represent an event, an idea, a genre that I have to think about and not what I personally want.

Of course, it would be lying if I said my personal views have not influenced some decisions, but as a whole, by far, I have put them aside and found it to be rewarding.
I like this game. (It's not fair to call it a "game" really, but for the sake of a post short enough that people will read it, I will call it that.)

In quite a few ways, it's like I imagine politics to be. In some ways, it's not. ...and I am not running a country, I am just trying to manage one night of a few thousand people's lives, but I want it to be SUPER!
