Teach This.

It was bound to happen...

I logged onto my MySpace account and realized how I need a friggin' MySpace administrator.
I KNOW I can get a lot done with it, I know it's easy, I just... can't...get....there...quite....yet.

I did find a pleasant surprise today. ...at least I think it's pleasant. I saw my high school English teacher in my new friends.
Whoa.
Keep in mind, my MySpace does not use my real name.
Whoa.
She was one of the fiercer teachers I had, so I am genuinely thrilled that she's on there.
...that made my day.

Brandon Baker: Teacher

Okay, now here's something that you don't see too often on my site. ...the "Brandon Baker" that isn't Brandon Baker.

I put this photo in my kitchen this week and today, Rusty looked at it and said, "Who are those people?"
I said, "It's the girls I was in FTA [Future Teachers of America] with. ...that's a photo of us at the elementary school we taught at each day for two hours of credit."
He said, "You're not in this picture."
I was like, "Ummmm, oh shit, yes I am. ...right there." as I pointed to the top row in the middle.
Rusty looked stunned like I just hit him in the head.

I guess I do look a little different. My natural hair color is red, as far as I recall, and the braces were only the beginning of my dork-ness. I look like a brown-red haired, lesbian in this photo. Okay, I can totally see what Rusty's look was for. As I look at the photo myself, I ask, "What the fuck was that look for?" and "Oh yea, why didn't I have a pink name tag pin on?"

This is my friggin' junior year in high school. Can you believe I was a teacher? ...or thought I was going to be one? I do have to say, that internship thing - yea, it did the job 'cause after that year, I was sure as hell I was not going to teach elementary school. I don't have the patience. I did substitute teach in Louisiana for about three years after that with a certification and fingerprinting. I got called for all the hot jobs because I was a male and there were not many of those and because I always dressed up. (It is odd that I wasn't in this photo, I usually wore a tie the kids could identify like Disney, Looney Tunes or something like that and it helped the kids to take me more seriously.)
I remember the day I actually did the first porn with Citiboyz. I seriously and consciously thought enough to remember it to this day as I said to myself, "If you go through with this, there goes every chance to be in state office you ever wanted and every chance at being a teacher you think you have." ...that being said, you see where I am sitting today.
