Pocket PC's?

I found two of my first Windows PocketPC devices when I was cleaning out my closet in Las Vegas yesterday.
Man, look at those, they look huge compared to today's versions.
They both have broken screens. YUK!
I also found the receipts that went with them.
Even in 2006, the personal planning devices were as expensive as $553.00. ...and apparently, I just shelled it out. I saw that I had an additional two year warranty on one of them that I never used. ...that means that as late as April of 2008, they should have been able to fix that one. ...that is IF I would be caught dead with such a monster.

The very first version I had was a Palm Pilot 190 that I purchased at Brookstone with my first pornographic movie proceeds. Damn, looking at that device now, it's amazing. It may as well have had a green screen and a DOS prompt.

Technology is AMAZING at times.

FindMe

So I installed this program on my cell phone called "FindMe" from VITO Technologies. It's fucking amazing.

Basically, friends text you a special pre-set code that you set up online and they are text-ed back with the coordinates of your location.
Once they have the coordinates, they input them into Google Maps or any other mapping program and you can see where you are.
I say, "It's good for when people need to know where and I am when I am too drunk to answer the phone."

Today I tried it when I was driving back from the airport and sure enough, it worked. I entered in the coordinates when I got back to my desktop and this is what they pointed to. Whoa.

Possibly the best use I can think of is when I lose my phone and can't find it. (Provided the battery stays on, I can get the exact location of my phone.) It even has a scrolling message on the phone that reads, "Attention, VITO FindMe is installed. This phone can be located via SMS." and is password protected so that no one can turn it off if they find the phone. So if you steal my phone, you better be a moving fool.
It's no so good for cheating boyfriends. (HOT!)

Technology is amazing, I tell you.

UPDATE [18Nov08 5:17pm] Here is a website that will work with most phones http://www.navizon.com/navizon_v-gps.asp and uses more than just GPS.
