Technically, I know how to drive a manual transmission vehicle. I haven't done it in awhile. I prefer not to.The last time I really drove a stick shift besides for a drunk friend a few blocks or something was quite possibly when I was a manager at the hotel in New Orleans and would help the valet department out when they got busy. (I know, comforting huh?)
Today, Rusty is helping me become more well-rounded and making sure that I can drive his other car.
The biggest thing I remember is to, "Shift gears when the thing is between the 4 and the 5." While it's not that simple, it all came back to me today and clutch this, let off this, neutral this all fell together much better than I worried about.
This morning we went to breakfast and for the first time, I drove his Honda S2000. (When he drives by, you can say, look at his S car go. *wink*) (I used to get confused and think his car was a R2000, but that's just what his name starts with.)
I felt like I was taking my mom or dad's fancy new car to the prom or something.
Let me tell you though, that car is sexy. It's crazy. I never used to care about cars, but being so close to Rusty, now it seriously does matter to me and I can appreciate hot cars. Neat huh?
I remembered really quickly and besides a few bumps (...which I am used to, don't worry.) it was fine. I do need a little more practice, but I'll get right back into the swing of things.
Plus, he got his new license plate. It's what California calls an, "Environmental License Plate" and it reads, "PHIERCE."
Watch out road, here I come. *wink*
