Rusty and I watched "The Omen" last night....that's not to be confused with our friend Omen. We did not watch him last night. (...NOT that I would mind watching him. He's hot.) Wait, I had enough watching him and NOT wanting to see him when he was with Andy. Yea, that's right, I don't want to watch him. *wink*
Though they both can be pretty scary, Rusty and I watched the 2006 version of the scary movie "The Omen."
I ordered it on the cable movie channel. I swear, I remember when the cable movies were like $24.95 each. Now it's only $3.95 for 24 hours of viewing. I can literally order it not get off the couch. I chose that one over 'Lady in the Water' because I wanted a scary thriller. Plus, I don't have to worry about getting the DVD back to the rental place. (Lord knows with all the time zone worries I have, I would get confused. *wink*)
...I am REALLY liking those kind of movies lately.
The stars of the movie are Liev Schreiber, Julia Stiles, and Seamus Davey Fitzpatrick. The latter one was the child star of the movie. I don't he had too many lines, in fact, I commented on that to Rusty. During the whole movie, I think he screams several times, he says, "They are scared." at the zoo and a few other minor scenes. He was really good at looking scary and serious though.How do you cast your kid in that? I mean his mother or father probably took him to auditions. Can you imagine getting that call, "Yea, we want your kid to play Satan in a hot new movie."
I will say that the role of "Damien" (You know it's trouble when your kid is named that.) was scary.
(...by the way, Why do you have to capitalize Satan when you type his name?)
The movie has some awesome and pretty gruesome death scenes. It had AMAZING makeup. (Kyle would notice that, I think.) I am becoming a fan of blood in movies. ...this was one that I enjoyed.
The 2006 movie was a remake of an older one just like it.
I think some of the marketing was cool. For example, it was released on June 6th, of 2006. That's 06 of 06 of 06, or 666. (The number is viewed in religion as "The Mark of the Beast" and is identifying to evil. Find out more HERE.)
I do recommend this movie. I think the characters were well cast, the roles were believable. The storyline was well thought out and well explained. It seems pretty realistic for the most part. ...that's what scares me, when I think a movie that SHOULD be far-fetched can be explained and is scary.
