'Welcome to the Parker' is this reality show on Bravo TV about a hotel in Palm Springs. I have not seen it, but I think I want to. (I have to finish 'Dirt' before I can commit myself to a new show. I watched three more episodes last night and can I just tell you, that show is HOT! Episode 7 really turned alot of my senses on, but I will talk more about that later.) The Bravo website for the show reads in part:
Imagine, if you will, that you are about to spend the weekend at your great aunt's. She is an extremely elegant lady of somewhat indeterminate age. She is beautiful both in spite of, and because of, the fact that she has avoided Botox and face lifts, and you can tell, that in her day she must have been a stunner. > I think that's a FABULOUS way of saying, it's in need of some repair, we are going to a tv show and exploit it and get the money. I seriously think is is BRILLIANT in terms of explaining things. Kudos.
Her estate is truly wonderful: 144 guest rooms, including 12 private villas (if you must ask 311 was Robert Downey's, and 308 was the one where Barbara forced Merv to tear the walls down so she would have more room), clay tennis courts (you'll have to wear whites); two Pétanque courts (boules to the less educated) and croquet (the way she plays it is rather nasty, to be honest), and of course the Gene Autry Residence. Rounding things out are her 10,000 (yes that's right 10,000) sq ft of banquet facilities. Perfect for Steve and Bob's wedding once the state of California catches up with Massachusetts.
The grounds are also home to the Palm Springs Yacht Club – Mrs. Parker is a charter member and honorary Commodore. A yacht club in the desert? Well actually it is a spa, one that takes itself a bit less seriously, you are still expected to go out for a drink after your massage and facial. > Yacht Club? ...that's fierce. One time at White Party a few years ago, one of the dancer coordinators told me to meet him in 30 minutes at the Palm Springs Cruise Ship Terminal. I said okay. Do you know how embarassing it was to call him 30 minutes later and tell him I just figured out that it was the desert and THERE COULDN'T BE A CRUISE SHIP TERMINAL. ARGH! Now if someone told me to meet them at the Palm Springs Yacht Club, I would smile and say I can't. ...THEN I would be in trouble again. Man.
The writers for that are much more my style than most things I read. They also listed 11 other FAMOUS HOTELS. If you know me, you know hotels are one of my passions. If I wasn't working for RentBoy.com. I would so be at a hotel. Sometimes I really miss working in hotels.
