...it sounds so official huh? I did a quick report last night and said, "Full report at eleven." so here it is, just a few minutes late. *wink* OMG! Actually, eleven minutes late. Uncanny.To the left is a photo from Jason Carter from the Dallas based event I was at Sunday with Angel Benton. (Fabrice joined us too.)
The contestants were: (...and I hope I got this right. There were so many close spellings, and misguided names, I don't know what I might concoct here.)
Amber Davenport-Stevens was the winner. She's the new Miss Highland Park USofA. Jason Sechrest would have loved her 'Cabaret' act for her talent portion. She's the new Miss Highland Park USofA. Check her out at http://www.myspace.com/amber_stevens. She has the title on it already.
Jenna Skyy (http://www.myspace.com/jennaskyy) did this FIERCE remix of a song with tourettes mixed in. She would sing part of the song and then break into this, "SHIT, FUCKER, BITCH" part. Now I don't support making fun of something like that, but the performance value of her song was heightened when that provided some humor in the dramatic love messages that was delivered until that point through lip-syncing. She looked kinda bitchy. My favorite thing about her besides her hilarious song talent delivery was that she placed copies of her photo on the tables. BIG help in identifying her. It was a black and white copy on regular paper, but she ran a colored highlighter through her name and MySpace link green and her lips red so it looked like she had colored copies. VERY RESOURCEFUL.
Amanda Hugnkiss was my underdog favorite. She ran down the stairs of the stage at one point and fell, but if you missed that, she made it look like part of the act. I totally give her props for that. She had so much lipstick on at one point, that I thought her teeth were bleeding. She was my third favorite. I want to see her do well at more things. She was very good at the evening gown competition.
Sasha Lauren did some HOT choreographed dance number with back-up boys, a backdrop and elaborate costumes. She was very classy to me.
The girls were all very impressive and polite. Other than Amber at one time getting kinda bitchy and walking right in front of the other girls with a "snooty" kind of appropriate arrogance after she had just received the most applause and walking the circle one more time, I was very impressed with the politeness and respect. I don't know, I think I expected to see them cat-fighting and ripping hair out or something. (...that would be hot to stage. *wink*)
The hostesses were this black drag queen named Onyx who I didn't really care for. The other one was very active, but did most of it Spanish and spoke very fast, so I had to pretend I knew what she was saying and just clap when everyone else did.
I talked to this other drag queen named Cybil or something. How awful is that, I can't remember one of the coolest people's name from the night. ARGH! She makes lace front wigs for a living and was fun to talk to. I learned about alot from here during my short time there. She was kind enough to answer my questions and share information with me. I apprecaite that MUCHO MUCHO! *wink*
Angel took his judging job very seriously. He was the most diligent one there I saw. He stayed at his post, didn't drink too much. (What am I saying, he does not drink at all. *wink*) (I tried to wait until I knew what I was going and what role I would have before I was seen holding a drink. I can just see drag headlines - "Miss blah, blah auditor drunk before show starts!") I was very proud of Angel the judge. I would also ague that this is the most judging I have seen Angel do in awhile. *wink* (Man I am good with playing on words! *pulls in arm and screams "YES!")
The other judges were Alyssa Edwards who I guess is pretty big in the game. (Dare I call it a game, it seems MUCH more serious than that. It's a figure of speech if anyone wants to claw my eyes out, okay?)
I call Jason Carter my "Tranny Magnet". It's amazing how he attracts the creme' de la creme' of the genre. Jason's girlfirend/boyfriend is Kandy Kane, pictured here at the right. She's unbelievably beautiful. In fact, I would call her stunning. I can't imagine how much time that takes to get ready. Whoa.Which bathroom do they go to at dinner?
Part of the duties Jason assigned me was to pick up Sasha Andrews, the current reigning Miss Texas. We went to the airport and picked her up at baggage claim and sh had her crown in this carrying case. FABULOUS! ...that's hot! I can't believe how much she looked like a hot woman. Whoa. She was my favorite personality this weekend. I want to see more of her. Now you can too if you look to the right. *wink* Amazing. You have to see her MySpace at www.myspace.com/sashaandrews.We were waiting for her at the hotel and the desk lasy said, "Oh you know girls, they take a while." and I smiled and said, "I know, I know huh? Well, you never really know." *wink*
Jason Carter was great at the event. He worked very hard and I am very proud of him putting this effort and celebration of the lifestyle into action. It's not easy to put together stuff like that and I think he deserves a pat on the back. (Pats anywhere else on his body can be taken care of by the "girls." *wink*) He was a nice host except when he got cunty with me for not following directions and missing lunch with him. I understand why he was upset, but I very rarely claim to be anything other than confused. ESPECIALLY when it comes to directions. He said it was the GPS, but I threw that in the back seat long before I was lost. I seriously can get lost going to the bathroom in the morning at my house and I have a studio apartment in Hollywood. *wink* I give him a hard time for that, but it's all good. I am sure he has enough to say about me too, like, "How's that bitch still employed?" *wink* My hats off (...and that's all that's off okay!) to Jason for a job well done. *applause*
I also think it's appropriate to thank www.15minutesmore.com and Benjamin Nicholas for helping to support this financially. He made a generous contribution to the event to make it happen and get advertising out. It worked, 'cause let me tell you, the venue was crowded as the crowning happened.
Nothing dragged in my accolades for the Sunday event and I feel a bit better off actually. What a great experience.
