I am loving the satin sheets on my bed.

Yes, that's a "Crowne Plaza" hotel pillow and a "Sheraton" pillow on my bed. I have a "thing" for hotels.

If I keep using "quotation marks" and throw in a couple of CAPITAL letters HERE and THERE, you might think I was David Forest. *wink* Man, I am out of quotation control here. ...sorry about that.

I usually make my bed most mornings, it makes me feel better. ...and I am sure lots of it stems from me not wanting to hear my mother yelling at me in years past.

Angel Benton is the GayGuyInTheCorner in my bedroom while he was also the "Princess and the Pea" sitting on a stack of pillows. In his case, it might be more, "Princess and the Pee" since he works for www.boys-pissing.com. Either way, it was fun to have him around at home for a few days. (...these days, it seems I am hardly ever at home.)

I think I want to get my bed from Los Angeles and bring it to Las Vegas. I already had furniture in the Las Vegas apartment, so I didn't have to buy new stuff or move the stuff from California to Nevada, but the platform bed I have in Las Vegas isn't the same as the bed I had in California. I like that the California bed has a headboard and footboard and this one does not.

It's just moving all that stuff out of storage in California is going to be such a bitch. I am dreading it and I have not even decided to do it yet. ARGH!
I am paying an insane amount of money for my Hollywood storage unit each month though - that has to stop soon.
If I haven't needed most of the stuff I have in storage in California yet, I'd like to think I don't need it at all.
I am so bad at things like this.

Camera Phone Photos 21Feb09

I am at the first hotel getting ready to check out and hijacking the last of the internet I have on the room before I head over the lake to my parents.

Here are a few photos from my camera phone that I wanted to share.

This isn't from New Orleans, it's from Hollywood. Melrose Ave. actually, it's a funny sign that I saw the other day. IT says, "Sleep with me, I'm on Sale." and was for a furnishings outfit or interior design place, I can't remember. I thought that was cool.



Now you have some "R&R." Roxy and Rusty were asleep at the hotel.



Here is what Hollywood Blvd. looks like as it's closed in front of the Kodak Theater for the Oscar preparation the other day. It didn't help me in my route home, but it's neat that the city allows such a thing. YEA!



Now here's New Orleans. Here is a building that I think is beautiful as I walking to a friends house yesterday to catch up.
It was so crazy because I was at his same apartment years ago when I tricked with these two boys. It was so strange to be back in the same apartment with someone else. It's a small world, I tell you.



I went to lunch by myself when we landed. Rusty was too tired and went to sleep. I was so thrilled to be back home, I went to one of my favorite places, Mona Lisa Cafe', and had a calzone and Praline cheesecake. YUM!


I plan on taking more photos with the an actual camera to share more of the weekend with you.

Have a good weekend and whatever you are doing, throw in some purple, green and gold for me. *wink*

I love this photo of Hollywood.
It's so vibrant, colorful, sharp and beautiful.

It made me think I should stop in the fast pace of the XXX Hollywood life and remember how pretty is is too.
It's a snapshot of a busy moment that was jsut what I needed for a reality check that did not bounce. *wink*

Just the Wax

I went to the wax museum with my friend Matt the other night on Hollywood Blvd. It sucked. I mean, not the time with Matt, that was cool, but the place was like a big people candle storage facility. I don't recommend the one in Hollywood right now. I am too used to the high quality of Madame Tussauds. (...like the one in Las Vegas.) Thank goodness the dirt hole on Hollywood Blvd. is going to be one here in Hollywood too.
There were a few highlights:

• I liked Willy Wonka's cane made out of candy. He was the creepiest character there.
  
• I have fun fighting the other Captain Hook. *wink*
• The Linda Blair and the Exorcist was fun, but how did Andy Kirra get back there?
• I was about to bust in on the Last Supper and offer them some ice cream, but I thought I would let them eat in piece or did I mean peace?
• I can't tell which one was Hugh Hefner and which one was the Cryptkeeper. Actually, the Hugh Hefner one was the most realistic I think.
• Wow, how about we go back to the 90's some more? Where was April O'Neil with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Someone may want to call the staff and make sure they get with the dates, people. Whoa.
• I like Matt thinking he was one of Charlie's Angeles. HOT!
• Since when is Sherlock Homes in the horror chamber? Only since you had read it in high school - ...THAT was the true horror.
• I liked seeing my Beverly Hillibilly friends. *wink*

Los Angeles Then and Now

I am on a book buying spree, I don't know what's come over me.
I walked back over to Virgin Megastore on Hollywood Blvd. last night as I went to enjoy the new PinkBerry opening on Hollywood Blvd. near my house with my friend Matt. (It was nice of him to think of me to go do that. YEA! for Matt and the new PinkBerry opening near me.)

Images of "THEN AND NOW" have traditionally fascinated me. I purchased a book last night called "Los Angeles Then and Now."

Here are a few of the images that I thought were interesting. (There are many more too, but that wouldn't be too nice to post them all now would it?)

The 'Ambassador Hotel' Los Angeles (www.theambassadorhotel.com) is gone pecan now, but here are some photos before it was demolished. The new plans for the ground include a school. This was one of the most intriguing to me because of it's one time splendor and of course, abandoned hotels really get me going.
I have an idea that looks like THIS site, which is so funny to come across at this point in time. Cool.
I would have liked to see this palce before it was torn down.

This is the Cahuenga Pass near my apartment in Hollywood. Wow, now that's amazing. ...and that's LA for you huh?


This is a corner that I pass often. I have been past it many times this week and can't believe that it used to be a hotel too. HOT! Wow, what a difference.

This is crazy. This is my street corner. Well, I mean, not really mine, but it's close to where I live. The yellow building is now grey and the building on the corner here that says ROMA is now a discoutn men's suit store. It looks very similar to the second photo, but even "NOW" from "now" it's got some differences. Certainly from the first photo huh? Whoa.


There are some more amazing photos in this book that I plan on leaving out on coffe table at home in Los Angeles.

Hollywood Jigsaw

I know it's not exactly on track, but music track, thought track or whatever, I have to re-visit the trip to Virgin Records last night.

I had just come home from work and wasn't stressed out until I got home, nothing special happened, I just felt that way.
I decided I would take a walk and I knew I had a gift card I was going to have to use up at Virgin soon before it expired, so I wanted to cool down and enjoy the cool night weather and crowd on Hollywood Blvd. so I took an hour to go walk around in my neighborhood. (Holly-hood)

If you know Hollywood, you know that there are costumed characters that walk around in front of the Chinese Theater for tips when you take photos of them.
There was an amazingly lifelike "Jigsaw" character from the 'Saw' series of movies pedaling around on a tricycle outside the theater.
It was a bit disturbing and I walked a little out of the way of him.
He must have "read my behavior" and pedaled right over in front of me playfully going around and around in my path ahead.
He stopped in front of me at something like 4 feet high and said in a deep, mechanical voice as he pedaled around me and looked directly up at me with his puppet face and said, "hello."
I was playfully but a tiny, tiny bit truly frightened.
My reaction was to scoot right along that he swiveled around and pedaled around me for a few seconds underfoot but just out of the way and said, "Do you want to play with me?" as I was almost running from the little man or kid or whatever the fuck was under that crazy costume.
I think I want new policy not be able to even sell that costume.

Man, it was scary and frighteningly entertaining. *wink* (...kind of like Jason Sechrest.)

Pussycat Dolls on My Street

The other day, i came home from the office and my street was blocked off. I looked around and after a few minutes, I found out they were filming the new "Pussycat Dolls" music video there.
It was pretty amazing how they turned my street into Hollywood Blvd. It didn't look cheap either. I was fascinated how they "re-designed" my street yet when they were done, you couldn't even tell.
It looks like they also rented the parking lot behind the old Pacific Theaters because for two days, they had two huge green screens and had cars driving in front of them in patterns all day. (...maybe some commercials?)
...for the short time I was able to watch, Hollywood fascinated me.

I think the stuff in this music video where it's on the street in the car and the sky is blue, must have been a set.
It was this scene where they keep walking down the street (I must have heard it like 20 times from the window that night.) I have some screen captures here where you can see what I took a photo from inside my building that turned out to be the finished product. Neat.
The part in the video where they sit on the bench with the signs behind them was right in front of my building across the street too, they put the signs and bus bench there. HOT!
If you watch the entire video, the part with the scaffolding looks like the Metro at Hollywood and Vine with the new W Hotel being built in the background, that's real too. I wonder what kind of permitting they had to go through to be able to do THAT!

Hollywood Mystery Lunchbox

I ordered this old-school, (Get it? SCHOOL, old school?) standard style lunchbox with a Hollywood theme on EBay for next to nothing.
The EBay description of "Hollywood 12-02-07 Walk Of Fame 1500 Mystery Lunchbox" reads:

This lunchbox is a great, metal, double-buckle, flip over lid style. It is in brand new condition and measures 10" long x 4.5" wide x 7.25" high, excluding the handle. On one side is a picture of the famous, hillside Hollywood sign. It also has an old time movie camera and a photo looking down the "Walk Of Fame", with Creighton Hall's star being the only one legible. Each side has what looks to be some type of award. A gold stem with an oblong doughnut shape on the top. The fron top has a star. The inside says "1500 Strong". Underneath it says "What You're About". The bottom front has stretch piece of movie film. Inside is written, "Now That You've Made It To Hollywood?". This was more than likely handed out an an awards show, film makers convention, or audition of some type in Hollywood. Maybe 1500 poeple attended it. I don't know. Maybe you can figure it out and would like it. It's a nice lunchbox in any case.

Now I am a little disturbed that I can't find out what it's from. What the heck? I believe that you can do many things in life with www.Google.com on your side (You can do things sometimes that I wish you couldn't or that you SHOULDN'T be able to.)

It really is a mystery lunchbox. Hummmm?

Jayne Mansfield - Close to Home

Rusty has this book called, "Amazing but False." I think he got for Christmas. It's all these "facts" you might have thought were true but are not. It has an explanation for each as well. It's really cool if you ask me.

I read this one and thought, "How did I not know this?" (I think I sorta did, but never paid that much attention until now.)
Jayne Mansfield is that close to home? I mean New Orleans... but even closer to that...Slidell. (...that's my hometown.)
...and what's even "funnier on the side" or maybe "scarier on the side" is that my mom grew up on a street called Mansfield.

What's even stranger is that the book that might have perpetuated the rumor that Jayne was decapitated, I randomly picked up last week. I mean randomly. I saw a title of "Hollywood Babylon" and thought, "That's right up my alley." I had just started to read it but had not read about her yet. CRAZY!
Now I read this - WEIRD! (It makes me nervous.)

She died in a car crash when she rear ended a truck that slowed because of a mosqito fogger. If you don't live in New Orleans you might not even know about the crazy trucks. ...that's too much.
