I love that TV's "Cagney" from "Cagney and Lacey" was the mom (Debbie) from 'Queer as Folk' AND one of the villainesses (...is that even a word? It is now.) from "Nip/Tuck" as Collen Rose.
I like Sharon Gless in all of her roles. Go Sharon!

I don't even know what the heck I am watching on Lifetime TV, but I am in tears. ...this is the reason I don't watch much TV.I joined this show 3/4 of the way through and I don't even know what it's about, but I can't hold back tears.
...this is too much.
...TOO. ...MUCH.
UPDATE: It's called "For One Night" about an integrated prom in the Southern United States.

TV Theme Songs
Among my many "addictions" and "obsessions" are TV theme songs. I can't get enough of them. (Angel and I get along well with this in the background.) Paired with buying domain names, it's only two of the things that take up too much of my time. (I bought two new domains today in fact.)
These are some of the shows and TV theme songs or introductions that I watched growing up. (You can't tell when I was growing up huh?)
Some of these are not that I watched so much as much as I watched them with the kids I used to babysit or teach. (...believe it or not, I did my internship in elementary education and was "sure" I was going to be a teacher.)
www.retrojunk.com is a great resource for stuff like this from the 70's, 80's and 90's. I really enjoy the COMMERCIALS section too.
These are some of the shows and TV theme songs or introductions that I watched growing up. (You can't tell when I was growing up huh?)
The Wonder Years I really enjoy that song and style of the opening.- Mr Belvedre He was fierce.
- Inspector Gadget Brain always fucked things up.
- Bosom Buddies Oh shit, if I only knew.
- The Snorks My brother liked them more, but he was always in trouble and was grounded from TV.
- The Smurfs
- Care Bears I have a life-long recurring nightmare about them, a juice box tester lady, a station wagon and an escalator.
- Thunder Cats I remember them being a toy at Burger King more than the TV show actually.
- She-Ra I think if it came down to it, she would beat the tar out of He-Man.
- ALF I still don't even know what he was. I didn't like that show, but found myself watching it. ...at a young age, I thought he was so crude.
- Webster My favorite part was the secret passageway behind the clock to his room.
- Small Wonder Where can I get me one of those these days? *wink*
- Duck Tales Fierce! I always liked the money diving and Mr. McDuck's things in life.
- Sesame Street There were so many openings, but the song is the same.
- The Littles Am I the only one or they are a little scary actually.
- The Big Comfy Couch I used watch this with the kids I'd babysit, but the clowns were too much at times.
- Reading Rainbow ...this is a children's institution, "...but don't take my word for it."
- Captain Planet "EARTH!" "FIRE!" "WIND!" "WATER!" "HEART!" "By your powers combined, I am Captain Planet!" FIERCE! I should keep that in mind too. He's a great cartoon hero that I wish would have caught on more then he did.
- 227 Go ahead tell me I am wrong, but I swear that the stairs they sat on in the front of the building was the same set for Sesame Street.
- Night Court I fucking loved Marsha. Dan was a weasel. Markie Post was such a floozie, but man, Marsha was the best!
- Captain O.G. Readmore Randomly, this song still comes into my head to this day. Rusty reminds me of him sometimes, it's odd, I know, but I can't help it.
- Pee-Wee's Playhouse Okay, this was like ADD on crack kids. There was so much going on and I don't know who's imagination that was, but that's a whole lot. I liked Miss Yvonne and thought I wanted my own Jambie. One time I was in Austin go-go dancing in my underwear on a stage with sunflowers behind it and I thought it was a fucking Pee-Wee tryout.
- Disney Sunday Family Movie I don't even think it was dorky back then, but I enjoyed that my family and I would watch the Dinsey Sunday movie all together. Usually, my dad was done teaching his classes on Sunday night and we could all watch that and eat popcorn. Believe it or not, I was not allowed to watch "The Simpsons" and "Bevis & Butthead" growing up either. Eventually my mom made me stop watching "Unsolved Mysteries" as well becasue I couldn't sleep.
- Silver Spoons ...maybe Ricky Schroder was hot. I don't know yet.
- Scooby-Doo ...such a classic. I have the theme song on my iTunes today.
- Life Goes On I should probably thank Corky for making me understand handicaps more. ...without him and his turmoil with Becca, I would probably be meaner.
- The Facts of Life ...this is one of Angel and I's favorites.
- Richie Rich ...I remember the 1994 movie coming out, but not seeing it all the way. I wanted to be that bitch. He never did a girlfriend right? If I remember correctly, Gloria was always mean to him.

"Simma Down Na"
Gosh, I love this skit on Saturday Night Live.
ESPECIALLY after the four minute mark, it's too much for me to handle and not fall on the floor laughing.
Season 25: Episode 17
Burger Castle

Nadeen: Welcome to Burger Castle. How can I help ya today?
Male Customer #1: I'll have a bacon cheddar royal, and please please don't forget the ketchup.
Nadeen: Just simmah down now.
Male Customer #1: Excuse me?
Nadeen: Simmah down now. And your Cat soup is on yonder condiment counter over there.
Male Customer #1: Cat soup? Where are you from?
Nadeen: Well, I'm gonna be from the state of Hell if you don't simmah down now. Now simmah down!
Male Customer #1: I don't know what that means, I'm just gonna ask you to super size it.

Breaking Bad
I was recently exposed to a show that I just don't know how to deal with. (...as with many things in life.) This one is of particular interest to me because my own life and the lives of many people around me. It deals with "crystal meth." (...so do I in this industry.)The show is called "Breaking Bad" and basically at this point, I gather, is about a high school teacher who is having a hard time making ends meet and decides to start making methamphetamine to supplement his income.
I have only watched the opening sequence (You can too. It's HERE and is only three minutes and forty three seconds of your life.) and 14 minutes of the first episode before I put the first three on my iTouch to watch in the next few weeks when I know I can concentrate on this.
I think much of the general population has heard of the TV show "Weeds". If not CLICK HERE. If you are familiar with the show about the pot dealers, this may seem to be on the same periodic process. Clearer than any crystal meth pipe I have ever seen is that the way 'Weeds' is to marijuana is like 'Breaking Bad' is to what is commonly referred to as crystal meth.I found quite a few links regarding the show:
- http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0903747/
- http://bb.amctv.com/
Br is on the periodic table and I truly remember that Br stands for Bromine right away. I will admit, I don't know if Bromine is used in crystal meth amphetamine.I remember seeing the billboards here and thinking that I was that much closer to seeing it all, I mean, there was about to be a show about bromine. It's over now. I also rememeber telling Rusty, "Look, I can't help but wonder if that has to do with crystal meth." and sure enough, months later, I find out - it sure does. I should know.
I am weighing in on this drug much more than I have in the past and have oodles of things to say about it. Parts of what I have said in the past are as solid as they have ever been and parts have gone up in smoke as I see more and more in my little life. No matter what, it's a drug that just can't be ignored.
Apparently, neither can the show, it was renewed for a second season.

Dawson's Creek
I watched a few episodes of "Dawson's Creek" from the first season last night on DVD.Check out the official site and what I am watching on season 1 at www.dawsonscreek.com or HERE.
Of course, because I am a wikip-idiot visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dawson%27s_Creek too.
I really like Tamara Jacobs. I think she's hot. Pacy is too. It's such a tragic reality for those two.I like the theme song from season one by Paula Cole. They have many good songs during the course of that show on TV.
As they grew up and the seasons, opening credits and more changed, it was like I was watching real friends. It's crazy. (...that's why I can't deal with TV too well, I have to remind myself it's not real.)
It cracked me up how many times I saw other movie posters and references to things like "Scream" and "I Know What you Did Last Summer" which were directed by the same director Kevin Williamson. It was crazy. They were everywhere. (He's gay as far as I know which makes it cooler for me.)
Some of it was filmed in Wilmington, NC (DAMN! ...a whole bunch actually.) where I visited with Kyle Foxxx one time. It was SO COOL to see some of the places I went crazy for and watched in high school and college with Kyle. I like seeing places I see on screen come to life. YEA!

Bloody New Show on HBO
I was a bit intrigued by a bus stop bench ad I saw for a "Synthetic Blood Nourishment Beverage" which made it seem like an energy drink called "Tru Blood" available in "O, A or B+." It looked like it would be for a person that thought they were a vampire character. Great, more dark marks on Andy Kirra's neck coming right up.I thought, "Neat, but I think the energy drink craze has gone too far now."
Take a look at the site at www.trubeverage.com and watch the commercial and see why it was seeming off. "This Blood's for you." in "tru" Bloodweiser, errr... Budweiser fashion. (Someone's marketing is fabulous, if you ask me.)
Then odd things continued when I saw a partially hidden ad by tree branches near Hollywood and Vine for a website called www.bloodcopy.com where you can find out about vampire news. The ad asks, "Where were you when vampires came out?" and I thought it has a gay touch to it. However, I thought of the blood beverage ad and thought they look a little alike, and for God's sake, why do I see so many vampire stuff around lately? It was a bit unnerving actually for a couple of days. I even thought to myself, "...maybe it's just me and you have taken it too far, Brandon Baker."
However, if I were back in London I rest easier and could say I saw a bloody new ad for a new TV show on HBO called "True Blood" and things are all making sense now. Bloody hell they are.I think I am a little excited about this show. I need a little "Nip/Tuck" replacement in my life. I miss the "Dirt"-y-ness with Courtney Cox and the New Orleans is coming out of me and wants to see more of this HBO+ show too. Plus, it looks sexy. Damn sexy.
September 7th, 9:00pm I want to have a bloody party at home for goodness sake and watch the first episode. Bloody goodies and bloody good time. Find out more about the show HERE and HERE on IMDB.

RuPaul's Drag Race and Kandy
I heard from my buddy Jason Carter, one of Dallas' finest, whom I call, "Tranny Magnet". (I seriously don't know how he does it.) His girlfriend, (...ummmm, I think that's what I am supposed to call her.) is one of my favorite drag personalities out there. She's beautiful.
She's working it out for a new show on LOGO called RuPaul's Drag Race and it's a voting based concept, so I am relaying the link to vote for her so you can help her hotness stand out! *wink*
I am excited for her and I can't wait to watch her on TV!
It's pretty crazy that I know some of the other girls in the running from when I lived in Ohio and went to the "Interbelt nightclub." As far as I am concerned, Dallas (Kandy's home) and mid-western Ohio are the drag capitols of the United States. Those fierce bitches are not joking around and they take it so seriously.
Head over to http://rupaulsdragrace.logoonline.com/people/kandyslayer200 and cast your vote for your favorite dragster!

Sordid Lives
I just saw "Mr. Nightlife's Hollywood" blog about his new gig on Project Runway.I have heard of "Sordid Lives" before, but I did not know what it was about. ...besides running across one here and there. *wink*
I looked it up today and I think it's something Angel Benton and I would enjoy. Not only because it has a former Golden Girl whose name sounds like it should be a street in New Orleans, but because it's so tacky yet meaningful that Angel would so pay more attention to it then most people. ...rightfully so.
The new one has Leslie Jordan in it who I am becoming more and more of a fan of.
CLICK HERE for the 2000 movie that the poster to the left is for However, CLICK HERE for the new information on the 2008 series I mentioned. Of course, my favorite thing is that they filmed it in Shreveport, Louisiana. YEA!

MathNet
While I was thinking of childhood shows that I learned alot from and while I was on the heels of "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" I thought of the Square One theme song. Square One was like an educational Saturday Night Live that I also used to watch on PBS when I was in Michigan growing up. (This was pre-New Orleans. I moved there when I was a sophomore in high school.) There was one skit called Mathnet with was a slick take off on Dragnet.
As Rusty headed to math class from my office today, I thought how much I didn't like that class and the only math I might have enjoyed was because of Mathnet and "Monday." She used to say, ""My name is Monday. I'm a mathematician." and she had my attention 'cause she was so pretty. (She still is actually.) She's done alot in her big screen history, but Beverly Leech I'd like to thank you personally. If it were not for you, I would like math a whole lot less. (Later on there was a Tuesday when Monday left, but Tuesday just never cut it if you ask me. She has some hard and hot shoes to fill.) She's the only one I know that could carry a calculator instead of a gun and make it look sexy.Tuesday, April 01, 2008
Night Court Intro
I used to live this show. The big black lady played by Marsha Warfield was my favorite character. I wanted to be like her when I would stay up late and push my bedtime to watch this TV show.

Old School TV Theme Songs
This isn't a commercial, but it's a theme and I am on a theme kick too. I remember the theme music from 'Reading Rainbow' when Lavar Burton would come on.
I just enjoyed the themes from a few other childhood memories too that really are "Old School" when I think may have learned a thing or two from watching them.
BRandom TV Tidbits
I love the 'Bravo TV' has some fun shows, here some links to the "Make Me a Supermodel" that I has some cute boys. ...in NEW ORLEANS! YEA! Cute boys + New Orleans makes me want to look twice. ...but twice is enough, I am over it now.
- Casey - He's 19 and he's from Atlanta, (Brock?) and hotter than I think hell may be.
- Ronnie -and his fierce little New Orleans thank you blog HERE.
- New Orleans Fashion Photos -I know exactly where they are in this shoot. It's right near one of my old apartments and I see them eating at Commander's Palace (...which was an old Bordello.) If I took the streetcar from one of my hotel jobs to my Magazine Street apartment, I would pass both the cemetery and one Brennan's best.
I wanted to know what "The Riches" show on FX is all about, so I looked it up, it looks halfway interesting. The kind of interesting that if I caught it on a channel flipping I would watch the rest, but not interesting enough to arrange my schedule around it like I have to 'Nip/Tuck' or 'Dirt.' FX Networks has some hot shows. Basically, this family is a group of nomads like ones that used to stay at the hotel I managed every season and grew to adore and miss when they were not bilking people out of money to pay me at the hotel nightly, that run some rich people over with their RV and try to assume their identity. Okay, have fun with that.

Unsolved Mysteries
My mom used to not let me watch "Unsolved Mysteries" in third and fourth grade.
I mean not like, "No you can't watch this, go to the other room."
She was more like, "If I catch you watching that, you won't be able to watch TV for the rest of the school year." She meant business.
I am a little glad she did that now.
...but not at the time.
I tried to tell her, I could help save someone if I watch it, but she still said no.
It used to fuck me up for weeks at a time. I was petrified. ...but I wanted more.
Find out more HERE.
Just this music alone gets me all excited now and I seriously can think of what color the carpeting was at the house we lived at when I was in third grade and not allowed to watch this.
I am a little nervous even now, like I am going to get caught and not be able to watch TV all month. YIKE!
(I was never allowed to watch "The Simpsons" or "Bevis and Butthead" either, but I presume that was for entirely different reasons altogether.)
