Happy Freakin' Columbus Day

Happy Columbus Day.

It's the day a brave explorer found what he thought was the West Indies and claimed it his own. Fuck that.

I think I am going to go over to Men4RentNow.com and claim it as my own. They have been operating a successful country, I mean company for awhile, but what the heck, I will pull up in my three rental cars (...the Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria.) from the Queen of Here! Lounge who gave me the money and make it my own when I land there. I may even pillage a few other smaller Internet sites on the way. Yea, and I'll do it on the way that I was intending on looking for ManHunt.net. Then I want a holiday named after me too. Fuck that.

I am not so much in favor of celebrating a day when Columbus wasn't even successful in his journey. He didn't even find what he thought he wanted to. Even though he did find something, and I live in it now, why do we celebrate a day that he took over someone else's land? It wasn't even a battle for liberty or anything like that with good intent, it wasn't even his land to take. BLACH! Fuck that.
Now I realize he might have been a good guy and been successful at something, but overall and based on what I have learned, it's not fair.

Plus, I hate that the banks are closed today. Fuck that too.

St. Patricks Day

Happy St. Patrick's Day.

I say that to some of the people I pass on the street that are wearing green (Don't they know I wear green the best when I am jealous!?) in San Francisco. As I say the glad tiding to passerby's I think, "What am I really trying to say? Who the heck am I celebrating anyway?" then I also think things like, "Wow, I have seen enough green today that if were to puke, I think that would automatically be green too."

I looked the holiday's origin up and found THIS EXPLANATION I am happy with. (...EXCEPT I wondered why we associate LUCK with this holiday. I don't about you, but I am sure feelin' lucky. *wink*) I read and understand about all the other icons like the shamrock and I accept that.
I am in the habit of trying to figure out WHY we celebrate each holiday recently as you can see by the blogs I write each holiday that brings the background into thought. Speaking of thought, I thought to myself why do we celebrate this particular holiday? Was it 'cause a Saint named Patrick was born on this day? ...or maybe it's when he got his sainthood. What if it was a day that originally belonged to Patrick somehow and this is the day he had to give it back? I dunno and I could speculate for hours.
Now I know that this is the day that an already Sainted Patrick died this day after a successful time of 30 years setting up churches and escaping from prison. Yea, that's a good idea, let's celebrate a guy getting himself out of jail. Repeatedly. How about I put in for a "Dillinger Day" on October 12 as a new holiday to celebrate the day John Dillinger escaped from jail.
