Cajun Country

I took these wet looking photos when I was at home with my parents last weekend.

We were out shopping at the "Bayou Country Store" on the Northshore (...of Lake Pontchartrain.) and it started to just pour rain. It went from sun drenched to rain drenched as quick as I could price the next item.
They have the store set up like a Cajun "Camp" might look like o'er dere in dat dere bayou in Louisiana, yea?

In my own humble opinion, the rain in New Orleans can be a beautiful thing as well as a deadly thing.
...this particular day, it was not the latter.

I stepped out in the humidity and took a few photos of what I call home.

I even sat on the rocking chair before I went back to finishing shopping. I felt like 'Bartles & James' but I didn't know which one.

When I could see clearly now that the rain was gone, I went back inside, but not before I snapped a few photos of what I appreciated at that moment.

My mom's health is failing, so I am extra excited when she musters up enough energy and strength to go out even if it's the backyard.

It's one thing for me to my own life on the Internet, but I try not to do that to too many other people too often. I blur out my mom and dad only out of respect.
I was able to get a few photos this time of all of us in the Cajun country.
I have wonderful parents whom I am very thankful for. (..most of the time. *wink*)

Brandon "Crawfish" Baker

Here's silly me eating crawfish last night in Las Vegas.
My friend Joey took these photos and put up with me all night. (...even when we went to Cold Stone Creamery afterward for ice cream.) We went to a place called "Hot N Juicy Crawfish" in Las Vegas and it was really good. It was a little pricey, but I need to remember we are not in New Orleans, so that's the way it is. (...there was an extremely hot waiter too.) It kind of made me laugh because the place is in the middle of Chinatown in Las Vegas and I think Joey and I were the only non-Chinese people there. ...eating crawfish.
...at times, many of the crawfish come from China actually when it's not in season in New Orleans, so I justified it.

They were yummy. (...spicy too.)

It still kills me that it's so much work for a little piece of meat, but it's so good to me and makes me think of New Orleans which I love, so it's yummy to my tummy.

I am sure I am going to need to do it again soon.

Bayou Chic

I was talking my brother or my dad or someone male back in New Orleans. I think it was my brother because for some reason I am thinking of Lafayette, LA and that's where my brother is.

We were talking and I was making fun of something like the offshore oil rigs that are on the land in Lafayette and he said, "Shut up bro, those are bayou chic."
I thought, "I love that my brother knows what chic is." ...that's hot.
I thought he would see the word and think it was a girl you meet at the bar. *wink*
No, no, he said, "Bayou Chic" no "Bayou Chick." ...that's something entirely different.

Now I want to call other things I think are placed just a little off, but necessary to where they are, "Bayou Chic."

I found this beautiful photo of a Louisiana Bayou online HERE. It's not my photo, and I don't want to take credit for it. The girl who took it has some other photos online from a trip to Louisiana.
