This is a picture of an accident Fabrice and I saw when we were at home in New Orleans on the I-10 driving back from Slidell to New Orleans. It was no Jayne Mansfield, but it was still a little scary to see just two cars ahead of you.a) Fabrice was sleeping. I was three cars behind this one. I slowed down when I saw sparks from across the highway and didn't scream, but said loudly enough to wake him up in fear, "We are going to die." I was a little dramatic, but it was scary. I mean seriously, all I saw was sparks and what you usually see on a big screen a few feet ahead of me.
b) The car directly ahead of me pulled over and a lady got out to check on people. She left her own screaming kids in her car in car seats. The car right behind this one pulled over too and immediately started directing traffic. I am proud of him. I called 911 as soon as I saw that everyone else was engaged and asked Fabrice to check the people inside and tell me if everyone was alive or moving. Fabrice then started directing traffic. in Italian.
e) 911 took 11 rings to answer. I checked to make sure I dialed the right number. It was Mardi Gras.
f) It looks like a white car ahead of this car hit the car and send the car off to the right, when the car tried to right itself and jerked the wheel to the left, it flipped over and slid or tumbled a few times. There were two kids and a lady. It was actually amazing how little they were scraped up for as much damage as the car had sustained.
g) As soon as paramedics, police and firemen took over I drove off and thought, "Man, if I was speeding just a little or talking on my phone and not paying attention, that could have been me. It was only two cars ahead of me."
