...sometimes when I say, "I don't want to know." it's because I really and truly do not want to know an answer.
Other times, it's because I wonder if I will be able to handle the answer and I say it in jest almost as a way out of dealing with it.
(I am becoming a self-proclaimed expert at running away from things.)Rarely and with great calculation do I say "I don't want to know." when I really do want to know and saying, "Wait, I don't wanna know." will bring out what I DO want to know with someone. ...that happens few and far between, but no lie, it happens. (...that was a complicated order.)
I have learned many things in the sex industry particularly escorting and one thing that I would put in writing would be, "Sometimes it's better just not to know."
I can argue with myself and Maria, (the voice of reason in my head) that "Knowledge is power." and knowing more in life is better. Right?
However, I assure myself that "Ignorance is bliss." and I enjoy a pretty blissful existence.
I figure in many aspects of escorting, it's safer not to know about clients. (I don't mean HIV status or anything like that.)
The more clients divulge, the more I would distract the conversation to something else that we both can enjoy.
I used to hear clients all the time that towards the beginning of a meeting ask something like, "Do you follow politics?" Yea, when you hear that, it's usually pretty safe to assume they are a politician or have something to do with politics.
I am no psychiatrist but people in general ask about things they know and enjoy or spend most of their time doing. ...like work and the things they do each day.
It's like true protection at times, just not to know.

I had one beautiful hustler friend in New Orleans who came home with a new watch one day. When I said, "Nice watch, where did you get it?" I would have been better off not knowing his answer of, "I met this guy and at the end he said he didn't have enough money to pay me, so I beat him up and took his watch. Don't worry, he's okay though."
It made me want to go make sure the guy was okay and ask him what he was thinking hiring a hustler with no money.
I should have said, "What time is it, I bet you can tell me." and hopefully made him aware that I noticed his nice new watch.
I should have said, "I know you can clearly see in that fancy new watch that it's time to grow up a little in that beautiful body of yours." However, if he was perfectly happy being a hustler, who am I to question that?
It's really hard to understand when not to know though. *sigh*
If I think of myself as being on a constant quest for knowledge, I am content knowing that I have learned when to apply not knowing.
Know what I mean? *
hehe*

I despise outright lying and truly appreciate when one can circumvent lying with clever wording.
(...even though I do it every time I click "Yes, I read and understand the terms and conditions agreement on just about every site I enter. I don't usually read them at all.) and I often have to work really hard to cover up things that I know and know I shouldn't.
(I know this is getting harder and harder to follow.) and prefer to "Stretch the truth" myself or come up with convoluted, contorted, way of saying things that is not a lie, it's just not exactly the entire real deal. It's a real life word game.
Clients I have long term relationships with are a little different and as a reward for the contributions they make to me and making me a better person, I do give a little more of myself to them.
I once heard, "It's not a secret if more than you know." and I wholeheartedly agree with that.
I trust many people around me, I know good people.
...and Lord knows, I know some not so good people too.
However, dealing with both of them is priceless.

I put up this post as a caution to any escorts out there, sometimes,
it's okay not to know about who is hiring you. You don't need to be best friends, you don't need to intimately know everyone.
I always found that a gentle reminder that I am selling fantasy time is what I do. I was not selling myself, especially with the one time clients who I saw at a hotel in Washington DC, Washington State or anywhere else on this earth.
It's an act, you are a highly priced, highly paid actor most of the time.
If you are having a bad day, does your client really need to know it and deal with it?
Good luck deciphering this entry and getting what you may out of it.
If you said, "I don't know what he was saying in that entry." I could go with that. *wink*
